Ecommerce (electronic commerce)

The term eCommerce (electronic commerce, e-commerce, etail) is used to describe business that is conducted online using internet applications such as e-mail, instant messaging, shopping carts, Web services, UDDI, FTP, and EDI, etc.

eCommerce can be between two businesses transmitting funds, goods, services and/or data or between a business and a customer. It covers a range of different types of businesses such as consumer-based retail sites (B2C), auction or music sites, business exchanges trading goods and services between corporations (B2B).

Ecommerce allows consumers to electronically exchange goods and services with no barriers of time or distance, and it is expanding rapidly.
